Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon of Double Trouble, the band that Stevie Ray Vaughan fronted for years, sat in a North Austin coffee shop on a recent afternoon, trying to wrap their heads around the last three decades. Things are coming into focus with the release of the 30th-anniversary Legacy Edition of Texas Flood, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble’s debut album.
...Mr. Layton said he remembered thinking Texas Flood, released in June 1983, had a lot going against it. The album was raw and muscular, flush with guitar histrionics and deep Texas blues, mixing both original compositions and tunes from Howlin’ Wolf, the Isley Brothers and Buddy Guy. It was a departure from the Billboard Hot 100, which featured singles from Culture Club and Men at Work.
...“Right after the record came out, we pulled up to the place where we were supposed to perform in San Francisco,” Mr. Shannon said. “We’d played there a few times before to maybe 50 people. Now there were hundreds outside that couldn’t get in. We pulled up and thought, ‘Who’s playing here tonight?’ We couldn’t fathom they were here for us.”

Re: Looking Back At Stevie Ray Vaughan And Double Trouble 'Texas Flood' - The New York Times
When they have their Album I always see to it that I'll have it not later than 2 days after it was released. I bought for some purpose: one is to collect all the album and secondly is to bought it and give it as a gift. - instagram like bot

Since the early eighties, when I first heard, this guy, this band, the unbelievable incredible talent of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, I was hooked... Listening to his music, became a must do... Everyday... I am in the process of building my 3rd complete collection ... The first 2, I gave two of my cousins in Italy, one on the east coast, and one on the west coast...they became immediate fans... I couldn't not share his great music for others to enjoy... One of my favourites is In the Open, from In The Beginning... Just a killer tune...
Miss you Stevie...

My husband, an Austin native, and I used to go with all our friends every New Year's Eve to Antone's for Stevie Ray. It was a tradition, and of course, it was before Stevie was discovered by the rest of the world. His brother's band would open for them and by the time Stevie came on stage we were all pretty well high and ready to party to welcome the new year! I will never forget those times when we had him all to ourselves and didn't have to share him with anybody else. I miss the 70's living in Austin and having the opportunity to catch all the great acts. We miss Stevie Ray but his music lives on!

I'll be buying "Texas Flood" for the 4th time. I bought the LP when it came out, the CD when it was released, the CD with the Bonus Tracks when it came out, and now this one. I've already bought "Couldn't Stand the Weather" 4 times.
